Elizabeth Maria Latini April 16, 1930 May 9, 2015 Portland - Elizabeth Maria Latini, 85, of Falmouth passed away on May 9, 2015 at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Residence with her loving husband by her side, and will join her son Matthew in heaven. In addition to Matthew, she is predeceased by her sister Salma, brothers Arthur and William, and parents Aman and Elias Maria. She is survived by her husband Arthur Latini, their son Joseph and his son Joseph, Jr., their daughter Suzanne Gikas and her husband Matthew and their sons Nathaniel and Jacob, their great-granddaughter Vivian, her brother Raymond and his wife Mary, as well as seven nieces and nephews and ten great-nieces and great-nephews. Elizabeth was born on April 16, 1930. She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford with high honors, where she was a member of the National Honor Society in 1948. Elizabeth moved to Portland after graduation and met Arthur through mutual friends. They married in 1953 and had three children. They were married 61 years last October. Elizabeth worked for B&M in the billing department and later for CMP. She then worked for the City of Portland for 26 years until retiring in 1995. She worked in the Health and Building Inspection & Planning Departments. She volunteered after retirement at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen. Elizabeth enjoyed camping in her earlier years. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She was a wonderful homemaker and a hard working employee. She made family holidays special and memorable with her traditional baking through the years. She was a beautiful person in every way; nice, generous, friendly and smart. She had a smile that put the Mona Lisa to shame. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 5 - 7 pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday, May 14 at 9am, followed by a funeral service at 10am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 72 Federal St, Portland.
