Eleanor Bryson (Duran) Ditmars July 27, 1936 September 19, 2012 SCARBOROUGH - Eleanor Bryson (Duran) Ditmars, beloved wife, mother and sister died peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 after a long illness. Born in Portland on July 27, 1936, to James and Eleanor Carey Duran. After her mother passed away she was later raised by her stepmother Mary Costello Duran. Eleanor was the second oldest of four daughters. Eleanor took great pride in having managed the Coast Guard Exchange at Base Boston for several years while her husband was stationed in Massachusetts. Eleanor's working career included managing Len Libby locations in Millcreek and Scarborough, which she enjoyed greatly. She is survived by her husband Carl Ditmars of Portland and her five children and their families. Son Carl Ditmars and his wife Elizabeth of Plymouth, MA, daughter Karen Ditmars of South Portland, ME, son John Ditmars and his wife Karen of Mendon, MA, daughter Renee Inman and her husband Anthony of Nashua, NH, daughter Michelle Ditmars of Portland, ME granddaughter Michelle Mark and her husband Joshua, grandson Derek Ditmars, granddaughter Morgan Ditmars, granddaughter Kylie Inman, granddaughter Katie Ditmars and great-grandson Jackson Mark. She is also survived by her sister Maureen Hemond of Scarborough, sister Susan Daniels and her husband Robert of Scarborough, brother James Duran and his wife Susan of Portland, brother John Duran and his wife Rose of Windham, brother-in-law Robert Jeffrey of Connecticut as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Marilyn Jeffrey and brother Steven Duran. She also leaves behind her ever faithful dog Monty, who watched over her every day and will miss her greatly. Special thanks go out to all the wonderful doctors and their caring staff who have been involved in her care over the last several years. The family will hold a private celebration of Eleanor's life.
