Edgar Leroy Patrick July 7, 1935 April 4, 2016 EDGAR LEROY PATRICK South Portland - Edgar (Ed) Patrick, 80 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 4, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Home. He was born on July 7 th , 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Michael and Anna (Peckels) Patrick and was pre-deceased by his sister Doris Vogel. Ed joined the United States Navy after high school where he was trained as a corpsman and served until his honorable discharge in January of 1963. He often spoke of his time in the service and was proud of serving his country as a medic. After his military service, Ed was employed by Scholastic Corporation as a driver and continued serving others by bringing textbooks to children and spoke of building bookcases to help the schools to which he delivered. Ed relocated from Minnesota to Maine in 2003 and soon after married Jacqueline Guerrette and was a loving father and grandfather to her children and grandchildren. Ed leaves behind his wife of 13 years, Jacqueline; his stepdaughters Debra Therrien of Vernon, CT; Renne Church and her husband Jeff of Windham; Tracy Guerrette of South Portland and his grandchildren Derek Therrien-Bryant, Taylor Church and Walker Church. From a prior marriage, his step-children Dawn Mohrmann, Denise Waletski, Diane Lemke, Kent Mohrmann and the late Dwaine "Duke" Duske and their children; and nieces and nephews. In his later years, Ed enjoyed the simpler pleasures of life, bowling, a good meal, a good book, and time spent with his family playing cards, laughing and telling stories. Ed touched us deeply with his dignity and strength and never-failing sense of humor throughout his battle with cancer and we thank him for this gift. Ed's family would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice for their care and support throughout his final weeks. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday April 9, 2016 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland.
