Dwight Edward Pendexter July 25, 1945 November 19, 2012 Scarborough - Dwight Edward Pendexter, 67, of Scarborough, passed away on November 19, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on July 25, 1945 in Portland, the son of Annie (McLean) and Harold Pendexter, Sr. He graduated from Deering High School in 1963, the Maine Central Institute, and earned his business degree from the University of Maine Portland. Dwight was employed as a financial consultant with Northeast Financial Services since 1999. Having been involved in the financial services industry since 1986, he earned such distinctions as a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable (MDRT), Top of the Table MDRT, the Presidents Club and Century Club of Commonwealth Financial Network. He was also a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He was an avid sports fan rooting for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, Boston Celtics and Bruins, which resulted in uncountable trips to Boston and New York City to attend many memorable games with family and friends. He enjoyed playing softball, managing and pitching for several teams. He was part of a founding team for the Scarborough Softball League and served as treasurer of the League for many years. His most recent team, The Foreside Tavern, won two championship titles of the Greater Portland Senior Men's Softball League in 2006 and 2011. He also loved to play golf, and was a member of Willowdale Golf Club, and enjoyed annual spring trips to South Carolina. Dwight had a love of music and theater, having attended many Broadway shows in New York City. He was also a former member of the board of directors of Maine State Music Theatre. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Harold E. Pendexter, Jr. Dwight is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan (Lapierre) Pendexter, their son Jeffrey and his wife, Ashley of St. Paul, MN, daughter, Bethany and her husband Russell Mills of West Sacramento, CA and granddaughter, Madison Mills. He was uncle to 11 nephews and nieces. A celebration of Dwight's life will be held at Woodford's Congregational Church, 202 Woodfords St., Portland, on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. Interment will be private at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland.
