Dorothy Edwards Sweeney Richardson March 23, 1911 March 26, 2013 Saco, Maine - Dorothy Edwards Sweeney Richardson, 102, passed away peacefully at Seal Rock Healthcare on March 26, 2013. Born in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts on March 23, 1911, she was the daughter of John R. and Mary LeBosquet Sweeney. She attended Newton schools through high school and then went on to attend Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. After graduation she became secretary to the treasurer of Newton Trust Co. In 1940 Dorothy married Deuel Richardson and lived in Albany, New York for eight years, prior to moving to Wellesley, Massachusetts. As a longtime resident of Wellesley she was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. In 1989 Dorothy moved to Heatherwood in Yarmouthport, Massachusetts with her husband, Deuel. She enjoyed 20 happy years at Heatherwood where she served on many committees and made many wonderful friends. While living in Yarmouthport, she attended St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable. Dorothy loved the outdoors, playing golf and taking walks with friends. She also enjoyed going to the theater, attending concerts and listening to music. She was predeceased by her husband, Deuel Richardson and her son, Jonathan D. Richardson. She is survived by her daughter, Mary R. Benoit of Scarborough, Maine and her husband Jim, three grandchildren, Michelle B. Ryan and her husband Chris of Scarborough, ME, Dr. Stephen R. Benoit and his wife Dr. Alice Guh of Atlanta, GA, and Andrea B. Staiti and her husband Greg of Ridgefield, CT. Dorothy is also survived by four great grandchildren, Nathan Mark and Andrew Edwards Ryan of Scarborough, ME and Matthew James and Samantha Marie Staiti of Ridgefield, CT. A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut Street, Newton Center, MA.
