Dorothy M. "Dot" Merrill November 25, 1969 January 24, 2013 Portland - Dorothy M. Merrill, 43 , of Portland passed away on January 24,2013 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Dot was born on November 25, 1969 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Irvin A. and Barbara R. (Ames) Merrill. She was a graduate of Westbrook High School and was employed by the Peregrine Corp of Portland for 18 years. Dot was full of life and lived each moment to the fullest. She loved music, live shows and outdoor concerts. She was an avid sports fan who was faithfully devoted to the Red Sox and Patriots. She enjoyed camping and traveling with friends and family. She was very passionate about her large family and friends. She loved family gatherings and was generally the first to start mischief at them! She had a loud infectious laugh, a beautiful smile and an incredible spirit. She is survived by her brothers Louis Santamore Jr. of Saco, Maurice Santamore of Westbrook, Sidney Santamore and his wife Patricia of Westbrook, Kenneth Santamore and his wife Cathy of Cumberland, Ralph Santamore Sr. of Portland, Dennis Santamore and his wife Nancy of Cumberland, Gary Santamore and his wife Belinda of Biloxi, MS, James Adams and his wife Barbie of Windham, her sister Shirley Daniels of Lewiston, dozens of neices and nephews and many friends she considered family. Thank you to Christina Hutchins, Judy McAllister, Beth Bouthout, Lori Pecor, Monica Wendel and the many other friends who have supported Dot and her family. A special thank you to the VNA Hospice nurses, Mercy Hospital Oncology and Dr. Roger Inhorn and his staff. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11am at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Interment will be at a later date at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland.
