Doris Mary Morrill, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026. She was born on March 12, 1930, in Concord, New Hampshire, to Josephine (MacLellan) and Frank L. Smith.

Doris grew up in a large and loving family. She was predeceased by several of her siblings, including Barbara Brown, Bob, James and Frank Smith and Pearl Martin. She is survived by her sisters, Jeannie Hansen and Carol Carlson, as well as her bonus sister, Carole Smith.

On July 1, 1950, Doris married the love of her life, Norman Morrill, in Concord, New Hampshire. Together they built a life centered on family and shared nearly sixty-three years of marriage until Norman’s passing on April 19, 2013.

Doris was, as those who knew her often said, “a hot ticket”—spicy and sweet and everything in between. She possessed a quick wit, a brilliant mind, and an unmistakable spark that stayed with her throughout her life. An avid reader, Doris devoured more than three books each week, continuing her lifelong passion for reading until the very week she died.

She loved music and dancing and treasured time spent with family and friends above all else. Home was everything to Doris. Whether she was hosting loved ones, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the comfort of familiar surroundings, she created spaces filled with warmth, laughter, and connection.

In 2014, following Norman’s death, Doris moved to Gorham, Maine, where she made her home in the Ridgefield 55-and-over community. Ridgefield quickly became much more than a place to live—it became a true community. Social by nature and endlessly curious about the people around her, Doris embraced her neighbors and friendships there and found great joy in being surrounded by others.

Doris is survived by her two children, Brad Morrill and his wife Melanie and Susan Ramsey. and her husband Roger. She was a proud grandmother to Christopher Ballard Morrill and his wife, Karina Morrill; Brianna Howard and her husband, Nate; and Kendra Ramsey.

Doris will be remembered for her intelligence, humor, fierce spirit, and deep love for the people in her life. Her legacy lives on in the stories she shared, the friendships she nurtured, and the family she cherished.
