Doreen A. (Young) Cabana August 1, 1921 September 14, 2012 PORTLAND - Doreen A. (Young) Cabana, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 14, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Portland. Born in Lancaster NH on August 1, 1921, she was the daughter of Ralph and Maude (Coates) Young. Attending local Portland schools, she was a graduate of Portland High School, the class of 1940. A long time resident of Libbytown, she was a proud member of the McCarthy's Market softball team and worked at Armstrong's Restaurant & News in Union Station, the Lowell St. Shoe Factory, the downtown Portland Woolworths and Maine Medical Center in the Admitting Office and the Pharmacy. Doreen was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 68 years, Roger; and her sisters, Audrey (Young) Crafts and Jacqueline Young. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Wally Arsenault of Scarborough, her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Kathy Cabana of South Portland, grandchildren Jenna Arsenault of Eliot and Will Cabana of South Portland, and niece and husband, Lani and Jim Ulrich of Old Forge, NY. The family extends thanks to Hospice of Southern Maine and the Palliative Care Team and staff of 4B at Mercy Hospital. Words will never be able to express our deep appreciation and admiration for the folks at Scarborough Terrace for their loving care of both Doreen and Roger. Services will be private.
