Donald Eugene Olden, Sr. October 30, 1944 July 5, 2012 Sebago - Donald Eugene Olden, Sr., 67, died on July 5, 2012 at Mercy Hospital after a long illness. He was born October 30, 1944 in Harford, CT., son of Harry L. & Mildred V. Olden. He attended schools in Windsor CT. He worked at Coppola Ford, Hart Volkswagen and Podunk River Equipment in CT. before moving to Maine in 1971. He worked with William Nason & Sons in Sebago, Microwave Techniques and retired after working several years as a Mechanical Engineer at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He married Mabel F. Hensel on May 29, 1964 and lived in Hebron, CT until they moved to Sebago. He was very active in the community and advocated for the community needs, while keeping the towns best interest at hand. He was a member of the Improved Order of Redmen and Sebago Fire Department since 1973, served as Fire Chief and Scout Master for years. He also was a member of the Sebago Branch Duckers Snowmobile Club, Capital Investment plan, Warming hut and food pantry. In 1994 he became a member of the North Sebago United Methodist Church Council. He enjoyed his work on the financial, building and nomination committees. With his diligence; the church now has a new vestry and classrooms. He was one of the founders of Sebago Days and served on many of those committees. He loved his Grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up. He was a big fan of NASCAR and his dogs. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Nolan; a brother, Robert Olden and a grandson, Nicholas S. Olsen. He is survived by his wife Mabel F. Olden of Sebago; son, Donald E. Olden, Jr. and wife Tamra of Sebago; three daughters, Mabel O. Flanders of Sebago, Karen L. Tucker and husband Stephen of Old Orchard Beach, Kimberly L. Schoolcraft of Sebago. Eight Grandchildren, Zachariah Flanders and his wife Hannah, Joshua, Megan, Abigail, Sydney, Tyler, Emily and Ethan; great grandson, Landen; brother, Harry Olden and his wife Jeanne of NH; sister, Peggy Hacia and her husband Leo of CT. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the North Sebago United Methodist Church, 820 Sebago Rd. Rt. 114, North Sebago.
