Obituary

Donald "Donnie" A. Cole WINDHAM – Donald "Donnie" A. Cole, 76, of Windham, passed away on July 19, 2025. He was born in Portland on May 31, 1949, the son of Arline (Pratt) Cole and Gordon Cole. Donnie graduated from Portland High School in 1967 and went on to marry the love of his life, Linda Townsend, in 1976. They shared 48 years of marriage filled with laughter, adventure, and love. Donnie worked for several years at Keith's Meter Service. He was happiest in nature, whether he was fishing, hunting, or wandering down a wooded trail. He loved long scenic drives, quiet moments watching moose, and paddling a canoe on still water. Trivia nights lit him up, and his camp was his sanctuary — a place where he could be with his family, swap stories, and soak in the simple joys of life. He is survived by his wife, Linda Cole, and their children: • Dara Morse and her husband David of Limington, ME • Darren Ricker and his wife Kristen of Levant, ME • Dawn Allen and her husband Greg of Windham, ME • Todd Cole and his wife Kerrie of Gorham, ME Donnie was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Windham Fire & Rescue. Their quick and compassionate response gave Donnie's loved ones the chance to be by his side and say goodbye — a gift that means everything. The family is forever thankful for their efforts and dedication. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, Brighton Avenue, Portland. A funeral service will follow on Monday, July 28, at 11:00 a.m., also at A.T. Hutchins. Just a See You Later Written by Hannah Allen (2025) Look for me where the pine trees sway, Along the trails we used to walk. I'm in the stillness of the bay, And in the loon's soft evening talk. You'll hear me in the breeze that hums, Through branches high and water clear. I'm where the moose and silence come, And every place we held so dear. I haven't left, just changed my view, Now resting in a sky so wide. With every sunset's golden hue, Know I am walking by your side. When your path ends, don't be afraid, I'll meet you at the final turn. Where campfires glow and hearts are stayed, And Heaven's light forever burns.
