Obituary

On June 26, 2024, I chose to unfurl my wings and take flight.  My story began on February 13, 1970, when I was born to Donald and Lucille (Doucette) Hooper in Biddeford, Maine.  I attended schools in Old Orchard Beach, graduating 11th in my class in 1988.  In 1989, I attended SMVTI, earning my diploma degree for LPN, fulfilling my dream of becoming a nurse.  By the end of 1989, I had met the love of my life, Tracy, and we had a beautiful son together, Chad. I spent the next 34 years being the best wife, mom, and nurse that I could be. Nursing has always kept me grounded and gave my life such great purpose.  I have been blessed to have been able to provide comfort and care to so many throughout the years.   In 2017, I was diagnosed with stage IIIC Ovarian cancer with a 3-year prognosis.  I was determined to get as many years as possible and so the fight began.  With an army at my side, I fought hard.  Many days I felt I was just living with cancer but in 2024 the tables shifted, and I found I was dying with cancer.  After over 6 years of treatment, I accepted hospice care with less than 6 months to live.  I am forever grateful to those who were always there, friends and family alike.   Those who passed before me were my father Donald Hooper, my mother Lucille Hooper, my sister Doreen Carter, and my mother-in-law Evelyn Perreault as well as my maternal and paternal grandparents. I leave behind my husband of 34 years, Tracy, and I will wait patiently for him to join me on the other side.  Also left behind are my precious son, Chad Perreault and wife Deborah who completed our family.  I am also survived by my siblings Daniel Hooper and wife Sol of Virginia, David Hooper and wife Lou-Ann of Rhode Island, and Donald Hooper and wife Christina of Windham; nephew Kyle Carter of Saco; nieces Britney, Samantha, and Autumn Hooper, all of Rhode Island and niece Courtney Hooper of Windham.  Lastly, I am survived by Susan Everett; my "Bestie", "Work Wife", my "Rock" who was there through it all to keep me sane and give me unconditional support.  Love you Muchly! Special thanks to my co-workers at NERH-P who repeatedly shared their time, money, and PTO to help me through.  Thank you to Dr. Jason Lachance and his team at MMP Gyn/Onc for never giving up on me.  And, thanks to Hospice of Southern Maine for being there for me when I needed the help. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Greater Androscoggin Humane Society by at https://gahumane.org/give/general-donations/ for all those furbabies out there that need a forever home.
