David Michael Hayford August 29, 1953 February 27, 2014 David Michael Hayford, formerly of Danvers, MA, 60, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Maine Medical Center with his family/friends by his side, as a result of complications from a recent surgery and a long courageous battle with multiple myeloma/ cancer. Dave was born in Salem, MA, on August 29, 1953 the only son of Elizabeth F (Yonge) Hayford and Edmund Hayford. He graduated from Danvers High School, North Shore Community College and Salem State College. He received a B.A in Teaching/History from Salem State College. Dave worked at HotWatt in Danvers for nearly 30 years. He also worked at the Guitar Center in Danvers, MA and for Family Dollar in Portland. Dave met the love of his life Karen Mills, while he was on vacation in Old Orchard Beach, they were married in Portland on January 1, 2010. Dave was an accomplished guitarist and taught guitar lessons in Danvers, MA. Dave loved Salisbury Beach in Salisbury, MA and Old Orchard Beach, ME. Dave also liked to go out dining and dancing. He was an avid Red Sox Fan and New England Patriots Fan. Dave also enjoyed classic cars. Most of all, Dave loved his family and friends and enjoyed getting together with them. Dave was a very kind and gentle soul who had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. Despite his illness, Dave kept his sense of humor and spirit until the very end. Surviving is Dave's loving wife Karen Mills, a stepdaughter and son in law, Annie and Bruce Miller, Father in law Donald Mills Sr, brother in law, James Mills, Brother in law and sister in law Jeffrey and Kim Mills, and Donnie and Karen Mills. He was also survived by a sister in law and brother in law, Beth and Frank Morgan of Cranston, RI. Dave is also survived by his Aunt Dorothy Ellison of New Durnham, NH and Uncle Dick Ashley of Middleton, MA and many cousins in Maine, NH, Mass, Idaho and North Carolina Also surviving last but not least is his favorite buddy Moose. Visiting hours are from 1:00-3:00 pm with a service at 3:00 pm at A.T. Hutchins at 660 Brighton Ave in Portland, Me on Sunday, March 9, 2014 with a celebration of life following at the Clairon Hotel on Congress St in Portland, Me. Another celebration of life will be in Old Orchard Beach, Me this summer, the date to be announced.
