Cynthia Palmer Heisler June 10, 1938 August 31, 2016 CYNTHIA PALMER HEISLER, 78 For Penny life began on June 10, 1938, and came to an end on August 31, 2016, at home in Falmouth, Maine. She died as a result of glioblastoma multiforme, a rather rare form of cancer, which first surfaced on February 18, 2016. Penny was the oldest child of Frederick S. Palmer and Grace P. Palmer. She is survived by her husband, Edwin, sons, Mark (Linda), Frederick (Annemarie) and their children Brianna, Elsa and Magnus, all of whom called her Nana. Other survivors include her brother, David (Dianne), sister, Nancy Van Dyke (John), Ed's sister, Maureen (Kerry) and numerous nephews and nieces. Penny was a graduate of Westbrook College and had a 14-year career as a medical assistant. Later, with friends, Joanne Soule and Elaine Sylvester, they founded and operated A Special Place in Portland. For the last several years she actively participated as a volunteer with Project Feed in Portland, along with her friend, Sandra Michaud. Penny enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, traveling, and walking, usually 2 or 3 miles each day; she did this through late June of this year. The family invites friends to share memories with them at a reception on September 8, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Portland Country Club, Route 88, Falmouth, Maine.
