Brian Alan Skoczenski December 2, 1952 March 20, 2014 Portland - Brian Alan Skoczenski passed away peacefully on March 20, 2014 at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 2, 1952 in Skowhegan to Alfred and Shirley Skoczenski, Brian graduated from Waterville High School in 1971. He earned dual Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. Brian spent his 40-year career in the biotech industry. He started two successful companies in the second half of his career. Brian approached both work and play with a tenacious spirit; he fully immersed himself in his hobbies and enjoyed, among other things, cooking, riding motorcycles and boating along the Maine coast. Brian was well traveled, having the chance to see much of the world for both business and leisure. His family was the joy of his life and he delighted in preparing elaborate Sunday dinners for them. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Alison Skoczenski of Portland and his three children: Peter Skoczenski, his wife Lauren Skoczenski and their daughter Emelina Skoczenski, all of South Portland, Ellen Skoczenski of Belfast and Julia Skoczenski of Portland. He is also survived by his mother Shirley Skoczenski of Saco, and his siblings Robert Skoczenski of The Villages Florida, Alfred Skoczenski of Bellingham, WA, Cheryl Tebolt of Saco, Michael Skoczenski of Portland and Ann Skoczenski of Arlington, MA. He is predeceased by his father Alfred Skoczenski. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, March 25 at the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church in Portland at 2:00 PM.
