Brian P.F. Barron August 8, 1943 August 4, 2012 Portland - Brian P.F. Barron, 68, of Portland passed away surrounded by his family following a long illness. He was born in Portland on August 8, 1943, the son of Matthew I. and Evelyn A. (Genthner) Barron. After graduating from St. Francis Xavier College, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He served proudly with the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam and later in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was highly decorated for his service to his country, receiving a Bronze Star with a Combat ""V"" and a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1969. He was later placed on disability due to his combat wounds. Brian was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sally A. (Tirrell) Barron, his stepdaughters, Melissa Luetje and her husband Ed, Erika Doherty and her husband Brian, and his five grandchildren, Kalli, Jillian, Genevieve, Chloe and Caleb. Brian is also survived by his twin brother, Bruce Barron and his sister Bonnie O'Reilly. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at the Fort Allen Park Gazebo on the Eastern Promenade, Portland on Friday August 10, 2012 at 10:30. The family asks that those attending bring a white or red rose to be placed in the ocean after the service in memory of Brian. Arrangements are by A.T.
