Beatrice Elizabeth Rhuda March 3, 1924 November 9, 2012 Scarborough - Beatrice Elizabeth Rhuda, 88, a resident of So. Portland for fifty-two years, died Friday, Nov., 9, 2012, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She was born on March 3, 1924, in Augusta, ME, the daughter of Fredrick and Phyllis Chatto. Mrs. Rhuda grew up in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School in 1941. She attended Eastern Nazarene College and nursing school before marrying Kenneth M. Rhuda in 1944. Mrs. Rhuda was a life-long Nazarene and a long-time member of the Cape Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene. She loved gardening, sewing, crocheting and knitting mittens and throws for friends and family. She taught macramé and did ceramics from her Preble St. home. For many years Mrs. Rhuda also sewed children's clothes for Healthtex in Portland. Mrs. Rhuda was predeceased by her husband; son Wayne; daughter Deborah; and three grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Patricia and her husband Roger Merrill, of Jefferson, and son Bruce Rhuda of Wells. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A committal service is scheduled for Nov. 21, 2012 at 9am at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland. A coffee fellowship will follow at the Cape Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Rhuda's memory may be made to the Cape Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene or Hospice of Southern Maine. Arrangements are under the care of A.T.
