Barbara Mildred (Spear) Bennett May 22, 1922 January 26, 2013 Portland - Barbara Mildred (Spear) Bennett, 91, passed away on January 26, 2013. She was born on May 22, 1922 to Edgar and Amy Spear in Portland. She attended local schools, graduating from Portland High School in 1940. Barbara worked at A & P Tea Co. for 33 years. In September of 1994 she married Leslie H. Bennett. Les passed away in 2010. Barbara was the past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Gorham. She was also a member of the Women's Woodfords Club. Barbara enjoyed many years at her cottage on Peaks Island. Barbara is survived by her cousin, Betty Harclerode of Manchester, New Hampshire and her very dear friends, Joseph and Lucie Hannigan of Portland. Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation from 9 - 10am with a funeral service at 10 on Wednesday, February 6,, 2013 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in the Veterans' Section, 672 Stevens Ave. Portland.
