Arthur "Art" Gordon Moore, Sr. November 8, 1936 September 6, 2014 Portland - Arthur ""Art"" Gordon Moore, Sr., 77, of South Portland, passed away at the Maine Medical Center surrounded by family on September 6, 2014 after a long illness. He was born in Lewiston on November 8, 1936 as one of twenty-one children of William Henry and Angelia (Sprague) Moore, Sr. Art worked as a furniture mover for many years for both Earle W. Noyes and American Van Lines. He also enjoyed his role as a school crossing guard for the South Portland Schools. Art especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Art was predeceased by his parents and all but three of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria ""Jean"" (Meserve), his children; Lannette Lovely of Portland, Lisa Arno of Standish, Lori Sparks of Windham, Thomas Moore of Westbrook, David Moore of Brunswick, Brenda Thomas of Gray, and Mary Ann Carroll of Scarborough , several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his siblings Alvah Moore of Portland, Maggie Bragdon of Scarborough and Millicent Garnett of Portland. He is also survived by his special friend, Rocco Navarro and the many officers of the South Portland Police Department. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at the Deering Center Community Church, 4 Brentwood St, Portland, ME on Friday, September 12 at 10:00am. Burial will be private by the family.
