Arthur Joseph Bailey June 7, 1942 March 14, 2015 Edgewater, FL and Portland, ME Arthur Joseph Bailey, 72, of Edgewater, FL and Portland, ME died on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Boston, MA on June 7, 1942 the son of the late Amasa F. and Martha G. (King) Bailey. Arthur was educated in Boston before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he proudly received numerous medals and awards, including the Purple Heart Upon his honorable discharge in 1971, he moved to Florida where he worked as a Police Officer for the New Smyrna Beach Police Department retiring with 24 years of service. Mr. Bailey is survived by his loving companion and partner of 18 years, Carmela Decker of Portland, her children, Kathleen Giobbi, Stephanie Skelton, Michael Leahy, Thomas Leahy, and Anthony Decker and by her 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Jack Bailey and his wife, Joyce of Franklin, NH, Barbara Cullen and husband, Richard of Weymouth, MA and by a son, Arthur Bailey, Jr. (AJ) of Boston and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Arthur was predeceased by brothers, Edward Powers, Robert Bailey, and by sisters, Virginia Cattaneo, Pamela Bailey and by a daughter, Leanne Nova. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours onFriday, March 20, 2015 from 4 - 7 pmat A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at10A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2015at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 72 Federal St, Portland. Interment with Military Honors will be held at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
