Westbrook Antonio Peter Caiazzo, known affectionately as "Drifter", passed away at home on July 29, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in Portland, Maine, on May 9, 1954. He grew up on Munjoy Hill and got the nickname "Drifter" at 6 years old (he often wandered off without saying where he was going). Drifter was renowned for his playful spirit and storytelling prowess. His laughter was contagious, and his loyalty to friends and family was unwavering. He had a knack for making everyone in the room feel included, often through playful teasing or by sharing engaging stories. A simple, heartfelt "Go Easy" marked his farewells, leaving a lasting impression on all he met. He was well known for, and had a long career as a professional painter, often lending a helping hand to friends and family. He had a passion for playing cards, a hobby he enjoyed immensely, often accompanied by his beloved wife, Benita on trips to Foxwoods, Oxford and the Downs. Drifter was no stranger to the kitchen and enjoyed making excellent sauce and raisin meatballs, sausages and peppers, and many other dishes. Drifter is survived by his loving wife Benita of 30 years, brother Tom (Vito) and partner Julie Martin, sister Grace Broy, sister Mary Caiazzo; his son, Tony Caiazzo and wife Kathryn; daughters, Domenica (Nicci) Dean and her husband Brooks, and Kyla Dibiase; along with his nine beloved grandchildren: Mia, Mariella, Sophia, Charlie, AJ, Adrienne, Ariah, Rocco, Ryker, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo (Jimmy) and Assunta (Sue), and sister Philomena Vickerson. Drifter's legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love endures through his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life was a testament to the beauty of simple pleasures and the importance of family and friendship. As we remember Drifter, we are reminded to "Go Easy" in our own lives, embracing joy and kindness at every opportunity. Special thanks to Northern Light Hospice (RNs Ashley, Carolyn, Nancy), and friends: Tony & Jane DePaolo, Willie Audet, Peppe Germani, Denny Casal, Bobby Rodney, Crystal, daughters Nicci and Kyla, son Tony, and the many other friends and family who spent time with and supported Drifter.
