Albert Clarke Caterina February 13, 1930 August 22, 2014 Albert Clarke Caterina, 84, of Port Charlotte, Florida formerly of Portland, died Friday August 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Portland, he was a son of Anthony and Doris House Caterina. He graduated from Portland High School the Class of 1949 and Bentley College the Class of 1956. While in high school, he was active in sports. In 1948, he was captain of the football team and received the ""Most Valuable Player"" award that same year. Albert was in the US Naval Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He was employed by Pickard & Burns Co. in Waltham, MA from 1956 to 1968, the St. Regis Paper Co. in NYC, NY from 1968 to 1978. Returning to Portland in worked for Community Health & Nursing Services in Bath, ME from 1978 to 1982, Cheverus High School as office manager from 1982 to 2000. In his later years, he did landscaping at Cheverus. His memberships included the Italian Heritage Club, Elks Club, Woodfords Club, Athletic Club of CHS, Riverside Golf Course and St. Pius X Catholic Church. He enjoyed taking long walks, gardening, playing cribbage with his friends at the Woodfords Club, all sports, especially golf and skiing. His wife and family were his love and enjoyed helping them and his friends. He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Francis and John Caterina. He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Dorothy Kenny Caterina of Port Charlotte, two daughters, Janet L. Caterina of Portland and Patricia A. Caterina of Buxton, his son John J. Caterina and his wife Nancy of Huntingdon, TN, his brother Robert Caterina of Portland. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Monique, Jamaal, Jessica Lynn, Jonathan, Jessica Cathleen and Jenny Lyn, and three great grandchildren, Taevonna, Jayden and Jaxson. A Memorial Mass will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Loyala Chapel, Cheverus High School, 267 Ocean Avenue, Portland, Maine 04103.
