Irene T. Wirth September 25, 1926 June 24, 2016 P Irene T. Wirth, died suddenly at the age of 89 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 25, 1926, one of six children to William (Willy) and Adeline (Addy) Williams. Brooklyn always held a special place in her heart. She met the love of her life, Theodore (Ted) Byron Wirth upon his return from WW II when she was the maid-of-honor at the wedding of her sister, Mary to William (Bill) Price, Ted's best Army buddy. They were married in 1947 and settled in Brooklyn. Irene (Rene) was a supportive wife and equal partner and when their son was born in 1958, she become a devoted mother. The Wirth's moved to New Jersey in 1967 into their first new home and Rene delighted in making the home a special place for her family. She loved to cook and enjoyed trying new recipes from Gourmet magazine on her family and friends. Rene was a very caring person and volunteered her time at the hospital in New Jersey for many years. Upon moving to Maine in 1974, Rene again set about to create a warm home for her family and new friends. When her son, Ted, got married in 1981, she welcomed her new daughter-in-law into the family with open arms and shared a special bond over the years. Rene loved to travel and enjoyed fine dining. She had a quick wit and a ready laugh and kind heart. She loved animals and especially enjoyed all her ""grand-dogs"" throughout the years. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ted, her adored son Ted and her special daughter -in- law Nannette (Nettie) Wirth all of Portland, her brother Joe Williams of Florida and her favorite brother - in -law William Price of Long Island, New York and multiple nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 5 - 7 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Burial will be private.
