Bruce E. Elwell Sr. passed away April 9, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born July 8, 1950 in Portland to Clement and Virginia (Harriman) Elwell. Bruce graduated from Portland High School and immediately joined the U.S. Marines.  He was pronounced 100% disabled by the Veteran's Administration due to his service on April 11, 1970, but continued to work various odd jobs. Bruce married Judith Stuart on November 14, 1970 in Westbrook.  He was a stoic man of a few words, but became softer in his later years.  He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and fishing.  He also enjoyed watching cowboy movies and cartoons. Bruce was preceded in death by:  his parents; brother, Jimmy Elwell; and aunt, Jean Elwell.  He is survived by:  his wife of 46 years, Judie Elwell of Portland; sons, Bruce Elwell Jr. of Portland, Clement Elwell and his wife Sarah of Auburn, and Clinton Elwell and his wife Katie of Westbrook; sister, Judith Stoddard of Lincoln; grandchildren, Noah, Gabrielle, Jackson, Joseph, and Clara; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland.
