There are only a certain few professors who leave an indelible impact on a student. For me Teddy Walther was one. Always smiling, always a good word, and the best Bobcat sports fan. I loved the guy. And am very sad today as I head up,to Bates for Reunion. It won't be the same without him. I will separately upload a picture of us on campus that was taken in 2015

As the former police chief and mayor of the City of Lewiston, Maine, i came to know Dr. Waltherl when I was using the Bates College indoor track. He would walk the track and had his chair walker and would stop and rest, however he kecpt going. I found him to be such an admiral man as we would often chat.  He was always so very pleasant and kind. I'm currently in Florida and I was sorry to view the obituaries in the Lewiston Sun Journal today. To the family, I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers to help you through this most difficult period. Bates and Lewiston are better because of him!

Please accept our sincere condolences from all of the Bechtel family. Ted was one of my father's (Leland "Bud" Bechtel's) closest colleagues and companions. They spent countless hours together at our home, talking about the world, students, their work, and community matters. I remember Ted dancing in our living room during the days of student and faculty parties. He was a kind soul and my mom, especially, is deeply saddened by this news and asked me to give Pam and Sue and family members her deepest condolences.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Ted was such a bright light in our office at Lane Hall coming to mail and ship packages. He was always kind, sweet, quick-witted, and always genuine.

You will be missed, Ted.
