Portland-Roy C. Brooks Sr., 68, passed away in the early morning of December 7, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation & Residence.
He was born on November 8, 1950, in Portland the son of Alton and Margaret (Daggett) Brooks. He attended Portland Schools. Roy went on to serve his country in the United States Army serving a total of 33 years of active and reserve duty. On May 20, 1978, he married the love of his life, Lorraine M. Ellsworth. Together they had two children which made Roy a very proud father. Roy was known as a very dedicated family man putting his wife and children ahead of himself and always making sure they were taken care of.
Roy worked for 34 years at Ameri Cold Logistics. Roy was an avid bowler in the 1970s and 1980s he belonged to some men’s leagues and also couples leagues competing in various bowling competitions. Roy was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 6859 in Portland and the Amvets Charles Loring post 25. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion Post 17.
Roy is predeceased by his parents and one grandchild Daniel A. Cote.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Lorraine M. Brooks, two children Roy C. Brooks Jr. and Jeannie Cote and her husband Steve, one granddaughter Debora Cote, two brothers Alton W. Brooks, Herbert L. Brooks and one sister Regina Brooks also by Joe Scamman his close friend of over 50 years. Roy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave on Thursday,
December 13, 2018, from 3 to 5 PM, where a funeral service will be held at 5 PM
Burial will be at a later date in the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.
