Portland-Ronald Lee Smith, 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, May 14, 2018, in Portland.
He was born on November 22, 1938, in Portland the son of Arthur F. and Ethel (Straight) Smith.
Ronald was born and raised in Portland, graduating from Portland High School in 1957. In 1960 he married his high school sweetheart Jaqueline (Scott) Smith whom he spent over 30 wonderful years with before she passed in 1991.
Ronald owned and operated Ronnie’s Drywall Service for 45 years. When he was not working or raising his three sons' he enjoyed camping or could be found on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He was a very dedicated Husband and Father that will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Ronald is predeceased by his wife Jaqueline also one brother Robert Smith, and a half-sister Geraldine Smith Mosher.
He is survived by his three sons' Ronald Smith and his wife Laura of Gorham, Richard Smith, and Stephen Smith and his Wife Barbara, all of Portland also by three sister’s Linda Boucher, Evie and her husband Gene Gamache and Brenda Davis. He is also survived by eight grandchildren Alex, Anna, Josh Saunders, Richard, Ryan, Olivia, Stephen, and Mary.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Barron Center and also Maine Medical Center for their compassionate care they provided to Ronald.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.
Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home 660 Brighton Avenue in Portland. A private burial will be held at a later date.
