Welcome to the memorial page for

Rita M. (Kennedy) Taylor

September 30, 1934 ~ November 22, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Rita M. Taylor, 83, passed away on November 22, 2017, following a brief illness.  Rita was born in Portland, Maine, in 1934, the daughter of Alfred and Agnes Kennedy.  In 1957, she married Stanley J. Taylor Sr., and together they raised their five children in their Gorham, Maine home.  Rita worked for a number of years at the Westbrook Spinning Mill, but most of all enjoyed being a Homemaker.  Rita was an excellent seamstress; she made all of her childrens clothes, without a pattern, for most of their growing up years.  Rita very much enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, neighbors, and church functions at her church, St. Anne’s in Gorham, Maine.  The family always looked forward to her wonderful meals and would often request her biscuits that she made without a recipe or any measuring utensils.  Rita was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be missed dearly.  She was pre-deceased by her parents Alfred and Agnes Kennedy, a brother Alfred Jr., husband and best friend Stanley J. Taylor Sr., a daughter Lori Taylor, and a son-in-law David Reardon.  Rita is survived by a brother Edward Kennedy of North Conway, NH, her children Mike (Kathy) Taylor, Sheila Reardon, Linda Taylor, and Stanley (Jen) Taylor Jr., her grandchildren Laurie Williams, Dave Johnson, Chad Taylor and Victoria Taylor.  In addition, she is survived by many very special in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  The family wishes to express gratitude for the exceptional care given to Rita by the MMC- ICU team and to the staff at Springbrook Center, Westbrook.    A graveside service will be held at the Eastern Cemetery, Rte 25, Gorham, Maine at 2pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
