PORTLAND - Richard Tyzzer was a man of few words and many friends. Richard was predeceased by his sister Barbara; father Gerald, and mother, Winifred Collier Tyzzer. He was the grandson of the eminent Harvard Professor Ernest Edward Tyzzer, a brilliant physician, pathologist, parasitologist and discoverer of "Tyzzer's Disease". Richard is survived by numerous cousins, including Nancy Sawyer and second cousin, Karen Tucker, and by several dear friends including Dan Bubar, Gary Scheuchzer, Allen Prosser, and Bonnie Doughty and her family; and - above all - by his beloved cat, Whitey.
Richard loved family gatherings, especially at Flying Point and in Aroostook County. He considered his friends his family and will be greatly missed by many. A man who loved to dance, tell stories and laugh, he was happiest riding his Harley and working in the Bubar stockcar pit.
After living in Falmouth all his life, Richard's last days were eased by the support, attention, and comfort of his friends, especially neighbors Tammy and Dave Sawyer.
