To all of Rico’s family-
I knew Rico while he was at USF many years ago, and he was a wonderful student and guy then, also. How wonderful he followed his heart back to Maine and lived such a blessed life full of happiness. May God blanket you in His love and peace as I know He is Rico.

My condolences to all who loved him and knew him. I just found out about his passing from his cousin Tom. May God rest his soul and Rico's love for you surround you.

I was fortunate enough to work with Richard at Kaplan and then Purdue Global.  I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, but you could tell immediately after speaking with him that he was a kind soul and special person.  I could always go to him with questions and he always answered cheerfully...even though many times I am sure he did not feel well.  In fact we emailed often and I never even knew he was sick so this came as a huge shock.  This in itself says a lot about the man he was in that he wasn't looking for sympathy...he just wanted to get on with loving his family and educating his students.  Richard will certainly be missed and my prayers are with his family.  I want his family to know that Richard left this world a better place because of his passion for helping others and I consider myself lucky to have had the pleasure of knowing him.

Richard was a kind and dedicated professional and colleague. Although I only had the opportunity to work with him in the past year, I was always impressed by his dedication as evidenced in his last email to me on April 1st concerning one of his courses.
I was shocked to hear of his passing, and send my deepest condolences to all his family and friends.

Sincerely,
Dee Scott Valdez
