Ray L. Hefflefinger

We have been thinking about Ray and Ruth lately and after a search found Ray had died earlier this year. So sorry we did not know. It was such a pleasure to share many hours with both Ray and Ruth in Florida. And for John to share some memorable time with Ray in his beloved Maine woods, at Baxter! I hope Ruth will find this message. Ruth, we are thinking of you and hope you will get back to the Everglades some time!

Dearest Ruth and Family,

Time with Ray in the car and on the waters of Northern and Western Maine, fly rod in hand, will be a continuing life gift from a true gentleman and patriot. The quiet life counsel, lessons learned (always facing upstream) will be cherished.

To Ruth, David, Bobby & Carl. My heartfelt condolences to you at the loss of your beloved husband and father. I have many fond memories of Ray, our neighbor on Curtis Road, working on his boat, building his kayak, and taking me on my first fishing trip with his sons. Hope all your warm memories will comfort you at this very sad time.

Many very positive thoughts are coming back to me. Ray had a tremendous impact on me both personally and professionally from my interactions with him in Boy Scouts, fly fishing near Baxter Park, to work. I worked for Thrifty Rent a Car and benefitted greatly from Ray’s wisdom , support and guidance. Ray had an impact on me far surpassing what he could imagine. I will keep Ray in my thoughts forever.
