Philip Allen Bower

South Portland- Philip A. Bower, 75 of South Portland passed away on July 12, 2017 at his residence. Phil was born on May 28, 1942 in Auburn a son of Philip and Gleyn (Baker) Bower.

He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1960, and then joined the U.S. Air Force where he served on Kadena AFB Okinawa and Dow AFB Bangor, Maine he was honorably discharged in 1964. Phil met and later married his wife Fran, and they moved to South Portland.  He started a career with the United States Postal Service where he spent 35 years retiring in 2001.

He will always be remembered for his hard work and positive attitude.  He enjoyed Amateur Radio where his call sign was N1EJM. Phil was also a member of the VFW Post 832 South Portland, and American Legion Post 17 in Portland.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years Frances (Ashley) Bower.

He is survived by his three children; Deborah L. Frisco and her husband Paul of South Portland, Anne M. Brown and her husband Charlie of South Portland, and Paul Bower and his wife Renee of Orlando, Florida, also by six grandchildren Alexa and Antonia Frisco, Ashley and Luke Brown and Brianna and Steven Bower and one great-grandchild Izabelle L. Kennedy.
