Patricia Kennedy, 78, of South Portland, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, peacefully at her residence.

 

She was born in Portland, on April 7, 1939 a daughter of John M. Walsh and Della Wedge.

 

Patricia was educated in Portland, graduating from Portland High School.

 

She married James Lewis Kennedy, Sr. September 3, 1960. She was a devoted military wife who raised their four sons.

 

Patricia worked at Zayres and Fairchild Semiconductor. Patricia retired from Fairchild Semiconductor. Family was the most important thing to Patricia. She spent many Sundays in the kitchen cooking dinner for the children and grandchildren, while taking breaks to play cribbage and in the summertime cheering on the little ones learning to swim in the pool. Patricia loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She was an avid sports fan. She rarely missed cheering the Patriots, Celtics, and especially the Boston Red Sox. She watched almost every game or listened on the radio. She would stay up to watch the last out, even when they were playing on the west coast.

 

Patricia was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, James Lewis Kennedy, Sr.; her sister Elizabeth M. Heskett; and her two brothers John and Philip Walsh.

 

She is survived by her sons, James Lewis Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Hixson, Tennessee; Marc Christopher Kennedy Sr. and his wife Rhonda of Hollis; Matthew John Kennedy and his wife Lisa of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; Kirk Eric Kennedy and his wife, Rosey of South Portland, Maine; twelve grandchildren, Patrick Kennedy of Windham; Daniel Kennedy and his wife Carrie of Windham; Sarah Kennedy of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Marc Kennedy Jr of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Josh Kennedy of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Benjamin Kennedy of South Portland; Kiley and Colby Kennedy of North Waterboro; Brandi and Bella of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; Eric Kennedy and Amber Roy of South Portland; five great-grandchildren; and her sister Dolly Ann Vachon of Florida.
