Welcome to the memorial page for

Michael Antonio DeSimon

April 20, 1938 ~ November 23, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Michael A. DeSimon, 79, of Windham died on November 23, 2017 at Gosnell House surrounded by his loving family.  Mike was born and raised in Portland, son of Michael and Beulah (Corliss) DeSimon.

Mike attended Cheverus High School where he played baseball, basketball, and football for the Stags.  He was recently honored by being inducted into Cheverus Hall of Fame for his outstanding athleticism, especially in football.  Mike played semi-pro football with the Portland Seahawks for several years where he formed life-long friendships.  He was a lifetime member of the Columbia Social and Athletic Club (some say more social than athletic).

Mike served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a corporal upon discharge.  He worked at the American Can Company as an electrician.  As an avid outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends, and looked forward especially to November deer hunting season.

Mike has been married for forty-three wonderful years to Patricia Conley DeSimon.  They loved spending time with their families in New England and New Jersey, especially to enjoy time with their grandchildren and to fish.

Mike is survived by his wife Patricia, his three daughters and their spouses:  Deanna and Dr. Patrick Donnelly of Brick, New Jersey, Debra and Dennis Burns of Mahwah, New Jersey, and Michelle and Robert Daniels of Standish, Maine.  He was a wonderful grandfather to Frank (and his bride-to-be Lilly), Maeve, Kevin, Aly, Jon and Emily.  They dearly loved their Grampy and he was so very proud of them.  He is also survived by his sister Joanne DeSimone of Westbrook and his brother and sister-in-law Peter and Beth DeSimon of Florida.

Mike made friends easily and was a source of great fun and enjoyment in hunting and fishing camps.  He was especially fond of mentoring his younger friends in rabbit and duck hunting, and sharing with them his enthusiasm for the outdoors.

We will miss his handsome, smiling face and distinctive mustache.  We will miss his loving, kind and generous spirit.  We will miss everything about this much loved and very special man.

For anyone who would like, please consider a donation in Michael’s name to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House 180 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074

Or

Please consider placing a toy in one of the many U.S. Marine Toys for Tots boxes with loving thoughts of Mike. This is a cause he enjoyed donating to each year and one that gave him great joy every holiday season.
