Lois Leighton (Dibblee) Irving

April 13, 1929 ~ November 28, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Lois Leighton (Dibblee) Irving, recently of Scarborough, Maine, wife of Francis (Bud) Irving, Jr. died peacefully on November 28, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was born April 13, 1929 in Portland, Maine to George and Rhoda (Whitney) Dibblee.  She was raised in Portland, Maine and was a graduate of Deering High School, Portland (Class of 1947) and the North Shore Babies Hospital, Salem, MA.  She worked briefly as a nurse at Mercy Hospital, Portland.

Lois was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Bud Irving who passed November 21, 2005.  They were married August 27, 1949 and together raised five children;  Kathleen Doucette of Topsham, Maine, Mark Irving and wife Cindy of Bath, Maine, Bryan Irving and wife Kerri Marshall of Benicia, California, Jeff Irving and wife Jill of Portland, Maine and Jennifer Barnes of Presque Isle, Maine.  She will be missed by her cousin David Cleaves of Brookhaven, NY and many family members and friends.  Lois leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Lois and Bud enjoyed traveling the world, visiting friends and family, square dancing and building and living at Aspen Heights, North Yarmouth, Maine.  Lois will also be remembered for the time she spent swimming with friends at the Falmouth YMCA.

Lois was a lover of crossword puzzles, properly made hot black coffee, snappy retorts and high standards for food quality.  Lois enjoyed making stuffed snakes for her grand children, Slo Poke traveling in the VW Mini bus, cheese straws, beating anyone at scrabble, story  telling, bird watching, socializing in any way, wearing lipstick.

Services will be held at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Falmouth, Maine on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:30 PM.  Reception immediately following at the church.  Interment will be a private event at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Congress Street, Portland, ME.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Scarborough Terrace, Scarborough, Maine or Compassus Hospice Services, Scarborough, Maine who took great care of Lois and her family.
