Kenneth Laws

October 3, 1940 ~ January 12, 2019 (age 78)

Kennie Laws of Old Orchard Beach passed away January 12, 2019.  He was

born October 3, 1940, in Philadelphia, son of the late Kenneth R. and Kathryn M. Laws.

He served his country during the Vietnam War Kennie retired from the United States Coast Guard in 1979 as a Chief Steward.

He then managed Soho's in Old Orchard Beach for 21 years.  It was there he made lifelong friends

with his smile, laughter and music.  He went on to be a Merchant Marine

traveling to Kuwait in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. He traveled the world

using his culinary expertise with dignity, honor and pride for his country.

Kennie was proud to become a loving father to his son Anthony who

brought him much love and laughter.  Anthony decided to follow in his father's

footsteps and graduated from Maine Maritime Academy in 2018 with a degree in

Engineering and a minor in Business.

Kennie loved hearing from Anthony during his travels to see if he had been to the same places Kennie had.

Kennie always ended the conversation with "I love you, my young son," and Anthony always

responded, "You too, Pops."  They had a special bond that will live on in his

son's heart forever.

Kennie is survived by his loving wife, Denise Langella, and their son,

Anthony Langella-Laws, both of Old Orchard Beach; his sisters, Kyle of

Colorado and Krista of Pennsylvania.

Memorial services for Kennie will be private.
