John was my dentist between 1969 and 1974 when I lived in Rumford Center.  He was one of the best dentist I have had in my 60+ years of intense dental work.   After John I have had a number of other dentist who all commented on the excellent work he had done.
Just recently I found a hand written letter from him from 1978 coaching me on how to find a new dentist when I was moving to another city.  He was a kind and remarkable person.

John was our beloved family dentist. He was a good wonderful person. What I remember most is his contagious smile, overflowing personality, and the great gas he would give us for the pain inflicted during dental procedures. So very sorry for the loss of one of the greats.

It is with deep sorrow that we write this note for the loss of a talented practitioner, a dignified gentleman, and most of all a friend.  It is because of John, his passion for dentistry, and willingness to share, that I started my practice in Maine.  Because of his welcoming attitude and wonderful friendship, we made Rumford our home.  But despite his professional influence, what we most treasured and loved was his vast knowledge and boundless sense of humor that he so readily shared with everyone.  John will be sadly missed by my family and I for the memories he leaves us with and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.

John was a very special man. Made all of us smile and laugh at the Lodge. I'm so glad I was able to be a part of his special world. When I think of the things he would say it brings a smile to my face. He is missed dearly.

John was our next door neighbor for a while on Somerset Street and we have very fond memories of him.  Always a nice man, and always a smile on his face!  He will certainly be missed.  Our sincerest sympathy to all of the family.
