I have just heard and deeply saddened of Jeanne's passing. I was the wife of her late cousin Gordon Woodbury Hammond who passed away in Sept 1989. Meeting Jeanne back in 1987 in New York hold's very cherished memories and I was fortunate enough to spend some time with her again in London. We have had many conversations on the phone over the years last one was her birthday and we often spoke of the family history and all the work Gordon put into it. (I moved to New Zealand in 2004) and I will miss her letters and family photo's we never missed a birthday, she was and will always be held very dear to my heart. To all the family and friends my sincere thoughts at the loss of this remarkable lady who like you I had the joy and pleasure of in our lives. Rest in Peace

Jeanne was a good friend of my parents and really my last living link to them. We exchanged correspondence several times each year. Her charm and intelligence never seemed dimmed despite the difficulties of the last years. My mother was Howard Armstrong’s niece and my dad was a newspaper man in Philadelphia and Washington. Dad was a great fan of Jeanne’s writing about Uncle Howard during her career. I remember rich conversations between them about their shared craft. I hope Jeanne sleeps peacefully. She was a rare jewel. I will miss her.

I worked as an ad agency account exec with Jeanne when she was that lone woman product manager at Colgate --around 1968.  She single-handedly tried to bring life back into the old Cashmere Bouquet product line -- and she largely succeeded through determination and a clear and artistic vision of its customer base.    I so enjoyed her independent spirit and often wished that we would meet and possibly work together again.   The photo here brings back memories of an intelligent and spirited woman who clearly lived a long life of joy and accomplishment.  Rest in peace Jeanne

Jeanne, we will miss you dearly. We would like to thank her family for their generosity and for letting us enjoy Jeanne's company these last four years. We'll make sure uncle Howard's plaque will always shine brightly in Yonkers!
