Welcome to the memorial page for

David William Walton

October 25, 1951 ~ July 7, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old

David William Walton passed away July 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 25, 1951 in Biddeford to Everett and Pauline (Brackett) Walton.

Dave graduated from Thornton Academy, Class of 1970.  He worked many years in sales at Nissens Bakery, Jordan Meats, and Paul White Tile.  He also owned and operated his own Gill Netting and Lobster Boat businesses.  For the past 17 years he worked as a conductor for Pan Am Railways, retiring last year due to ill health.

Dave met and married the love of his life in 1975. They celebrated their 41st anniversary this past November.  Together they had one son, David, who is their world.

Dave was a loving, caring, and charismatic man who made a friend wherever he went.  He definitely had a gift to gab and would lend a hand to anyone who needed it.  He was extremely hard working and was very devoted to his family.  You very seldom saw Dave without a smile on his face.  He was best known for his catch phrases “Yes Boss” and “Ya Baby”.  He loved life, his family and his faith, being especially proud of his son, David.

Dave loved travelling and vacationing with family and friends.  He loved his trips to Texas to see his family, especially this winter when he spent the entire winter there.  He also loved fishing, Patriots Football, Nascar, and playing the slots at the casino.

Dave volunteered his time as a coach, umpire, and President for the South Portland Little League.  He loved watching his son play all sports along with his son’s friends.

Dave was predeceased by:  his father, Everett Walton and mother, Pauline Walton; brothers Jimmy Walton and Roger Walton; Gram, Annabelle Pendelton, who he loved so much; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pierina and Al Axelsen, who he loved like his own parents.  He is survived by:  his wife of 41 years, Mary Walton; son, David and his wife Kelli; grandchildren, Camden, Cacen, and Harper; sister, Debbie Schneider and her husband Bob; brother, Mark Walton and his wife Christina; brother-in-laws, who were more like brothers, Mark Axelsen and his wife Cindy, Al Axelsen, Richie Axelsen and his wife Mary; sister-in-law, Lisa Joyce and her husband Mike; his “hun”, Peggy Kilbride; many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly; and some special friends, Al and Grace Broy, Doug Niles, Jordan Buck, Lew Moynihan Jr., and Jeremy Perry.

The family would like to extend our sincere, heartfelt thank you to his hospice nurses, Kim and Allison, for the amazing care and compassion and loving support they provided throughout his final weeks.  You were both his angels on earth.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at A.T.
