Betty Hanson Trynor

October 29, 1929 ~ July 20, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Betty Hanson Trynor of Portland and Englewood FL passed away on July 20th with her family by her side.

 

She was born in Edmunds ME on Oct 29, 1929 to Ralph B Hanson and Sadie (Mahar) Hanson.  The family moved to Youngstown OH where she started school moving back to Maine when she was in the 7th grade.  She was in the first class to graduate from the then New Jackson High and graduated from Portland High in 1948.

 

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Her hobbies included reading, knitting, crochet and traveling the world. She was a Cub Scout den mother for many years and volunteered with a local color guard.  She took great pride in bringing The Irish Children Friendship Program of Northern Ireland to Maine and hosting several children over the years.  For the past 4 years she was a foster grammy at Lyseth School which she enjoyed 4 days a week.  She was active in her church where she taught Sunday school, was in choir, ladies guild, served on the vestry as layman, secretary, Jr warden and Sr warden going to synod meetings from Portland ME to Portland OR and 5 other states.  Betty was also a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs and helped with Camp NEOFA. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Gordon L. Trynor Sr., sister Blanche and daughter Sadie Anne.  Survivors include son Ralph and wife Michele of So Portland, daughters Betty Wills and partner Steve Kostis of Alfred, Wanda Revolinski and husband Joel of McKinney TX, Cathy Davis and husband Glen of Gorham, son Gordon Jr and partner Michelle LaBarbera of Lakeland FL, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, honorary children, Fred Stuart, Sharon Burns, Roseanne Talbot and Steven Shugars.

 

Service to be held 10: 00AM July 27th at St Paul’s Church in Portland with internment at Eastern Cemetery in Gorham.

 

In lieu of flowers Betty requests donations to St Paul’s Church, 279 Congress St, Portland ME 04101.
