I was lucky enough to meet Betty several times at Kristin's home and during those meeting it was apparent to all that, even at an advanced age, she was still whip smart. She had such a keen insight into relationships I was involved in that I wondered if Kristin had prompted her in advance. Of course that wasn't the case, Betty was just quick study on human relationships.

I once asked her at one of these meals why she chose psychology as a field of study and she replied that she loved thinking about how people think and helping them.

The world is a little dimmer today.

I have known Betty for 20 plus years and have relished every moment of our friendship. The stories she told, the wisdom she shared and the laughs we had will forever be in my heart. You are one special lady, Betty.

Betty is a treasure! I had the good fortune of working with her throughout her time at Maine Medical Center, where she was the glue that held the psychiatry consultation service together. She was a great clinician and was loved by her patients and all who worked with her. She also had a lovely sense of irony and a healthy skepticism towards bureaucratic foolishness. She carried with her the stamp of her Johns Hopkins experience and conferred a certain classiness to our department. I have missed her.

I was lucky enough to meet and work with Betty in her capacity as a counselor in private practice many years ago. Her deep intelligence, humor, honesty, and compassion were so evident and so helpful to me at a very tumultuous time in my life. What I admired even more was how tremendously grounded and centered she was. She helped me find my feet, my own center, and navigate that time productively and well. I am better for knowing her, as I know so many people can say. My deepest condolences to her family, friends and all those lucky enough to have known her.
