Dear Signe and Marc,
Thinking of you as you grieve your mom... dad and sister also. Those of us who have had good parents are so blessed!
I only remember you two as Betty’s kids who weren’t there when Mom (Helen Otis) took me for haircuts. I was none too happy about them, because I always wanted pigtails and braids and never got to have them, so your mom was “the enemy “, so to speak, of my dreams. One day your mom said: “I hope your face doesn’t freeze that way!”
Later I realized my mom just didn’t have the knack for fixing hair, and her hands broke out in a rash with shampoos, so that’s why she was a regular at Betty’s. I remember the stairs well.
Mom bought a Diamon Deb nail file for me when I was in high school. It’s the only file I have used all these years, and I am 69 now.
Your mom came to visit and brought goodies to our house at the time of Mom’s passing in 1991. So kind!
Years passed, then one day Betty was in my line at the Scarborough Hannaford where I was a cashier. I was able to thank her for caring for our hair and for the awesome nail file. I saw her several times at the store.
May you be surrounded by love and good memories!
Sincerely,
