Asa T Worcester

Asa T. Worcester, Jr. 72, died unexpectedly, at his home in Portland Maine, on Sunday June 25, 2017, He was born August 7, 1944 in Portland Maine. He was the son of the late Asa T. Worcester and Althea Mae Gordious.

 

Asa attended Deering High School, was in the USAF and graduated from the University of Maine. Following his time working in the Railroad industry, he worked and eventually retired from McDonnell Douglas, as a Quality Engineer. Asa was a Boy Scout when he was growing up. He was able to continue and pass on his passion for Scouting through his involvement in leadership.

 

Surviving Asa is his wife Wendy; brothers, Roy Coffin, and Bob Worcester and his wife Vicki; Children, Eugene, Lisa Worcester, Daniel, Lori Iles, James and his wife Terry, Asa Todd and his wife Hitomi, Jennifer Casivant and her husband George, Jason and his wife Kim, and Stephen and his wife Amber; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Asa's lifelong fascination with and love of trains, provided him with a hobby that kept him busy, especially in the years since his retirement. His hobby also provided him with many wonderful friends and contacts. He attended hobby shows all over New England whenever he was able to. He was extremely proud of the depth of knowledge he acquired over his lifetime and was well respected in the rail fan community. He was frequently consulted by and lent his expertise to many model train manufacturers as they were developing proto type models.

 

In addition to his hobby, Asa enjoyed visits with family and friends, bantering about anything from family history to local politics.

 

At his request, a private service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
