Anthony Joseph Fasulo

July 18, 1926 ~ April 14, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Anthony J. Fasulo, 90, of Portland, died Friday morning, April 14, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence.  He was born in Portland, the son of Frank and Josephine (Striano) Fasulo.  He attended Portland schools and Portland High School.

 

Tony resided in East Deering of Portland all his life.  He was employed by the former A&P Bakery where he met the love of his life, Corinne Peters.  They were married September 5, 1959 and celebrated 50 years of marriage in September 2009.  Tony also worked at JJ Nissan Baking Company, where he later retired.

 

Tony was a Communicant of Saint Pius X Catholic Church.  Tony was also a member of the Columbia Club and Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid golfer and participated in the Portland City Golf Championship, where he was runner-up in 1964.

 

Tony most enjoyed spending time with his family during the holidays and looked forward to Sunday gatherings, where his wife made sauce and meatballs.  He was cared for by his wife until they moved into the home of their daughter and grandchildren, where they were very happy.  He was then cared for by his daughter, Kathy and granddaughter, Nicola for four years.  He shared many memories and laughs and loved to watch and talk about sports with his grandsons, Eddie and Joe.  He spent the last few years of his life residing at Saint Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence, where he made many friends and never failed to put a smile on their face.

 

Tony was predeceased by: his parents; wife, Corinne; son, Mark; and brothers, Philip, Fred, and Patsy.  He is survived by:  his daughter, Kathy Apon of Portland; son, Henry Alcantara of Lewiston; sister, Nancy Mallory of South Portland; grandchildren, Michele Toth and her husband Randy of Lewiston, Peter Alcantara of Westbrook, John Alcantara and his wife Jen of New Hampshire, Nicola Apon of Portland, Eddie Apon of Portland, and Joseph Apon of Portland; great-grandson, Billy Malia of Lewiston; great-granddaughters, Krystal Toth of Lewiston and Makayla Alcantara of Westbrook; great-great-grandson, Dominic of Westbrook; daughter-in-law, Judy Alcantara; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including life-long friend, Peter Scala.

 

Tony’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence for their loving care.  Donations may be made in Tony’s name to St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence, 1133 Washington Ave., Portland, ME 04103.

 

Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church (492 Ocean Ave, Portland) followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
