Rudolph A. Paolilli

Rudolph A. Paolilli "Rudy" July 10, 2015 Portland - Rudolph A. Paolilli of Portland, 93, died on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough where he had resided for six months. Rudy was born in Providence Rhode Island, one of twelve children of Philip Paolilli and Mary Damico. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater in World War II and stateside at Camp Edwards where he met Gerald Pallotta of Portland, Maine. In 1949 he married Gerald's sister Anna and moved to Portland where they raised three children. Rudy worked as a plumber, electrician and oil burner mechanic for Pallotta Oil Co. and Eastern Oil. As well, he was a talented carpenter and all around handyman who could fix just about anything, or break it trying. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters Edwin, Matilda, Doris, Herbert, Evelyn, Almonte, Virginia, Vicenzo and Lorraine. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna, daughter Evelyn McElroy and her husband Jim, son Philip and his wife Mandy of Eagle Colorado, son Joseph and his wife Michelle of Boerne, Texas. Also surviving are his sister Elsie Knight of Dallas, Texas, and brother Richard Paolilli and his wife Patricia of Warwick, R.I.; two sisters-in law, Joanne Williams and her husband John of York and Gloria Pollard and her husband Bill of Yarmouth. Rudy was very proud of his two military grandsons and their wives, Captain Joseph Paolilli and wife Tammi of Manhattan, Kansas, and Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Paolilli and wife Melissa of Fort Polk, Louisiana. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff of the Maine Veterans' Home for the excellent care they provided to Rudy. If desired, a donation can be made in Rudy's name to the Maine Veterans' Home, 290 US Rt 1, Scarborough, Maine 04074. Friends and family are invited to visiting on Friday, July 17, 2015 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland from 11am - 12pm, with a brief blessing by Fr. Robert Regan and military honors presentation at 12pm .
