Raymond F. Mazziotti February 7, 1925 June 26, 2012 Falmouth - Raymond F. Mazziotti, 87 , of Falmouth, passed away at Sedgewood Commons on June 26, 2012. Born on February 7, 1925, an unseasonably warm day, Raymond F. Mazziotti became the youngest son of Italian immigrants, Joseph and Concetta Mazziotti. Following his graduation from Portland High School, he joined the ranks of America's greatest generation, serving with the United States Navy in WW II. After the war, Ray and his brothers, Americo and Domenic opened a Texaco station in the East Deering section of Portland where it and they were landmarks for more than three decades. His gift for fixing anything mechanical and his engaging personality led him to instructing students at Portland's Arts and Technology High School. A graduate of the school of hard knocks, Ray's manner of teaching quickly gained him the lasting respect of students and faculty. Throughout his life, Ray held a passion for entertaining. As a talented musician and singer, he performed regularly at area gatherings, never passing up the chance to regale the audience with his rendition of the "Butcher Boy". Special too, was his camp at Little Sebago Lake. For more than fifty years it was where he was surrounded by family and his extended family. Whether it was pitching horseshoes, boating; just his good natured sense of humor, he made everyone feel at home. In later years Ray devoted much of his time to golf. A sought after partner, his play was matched only by his quick wit. Ray was married to the former Carlene Burke, who predeceased him in 1998. He was also predeceased by his parents Joseph Mazziotti and Maria Concetta Mazziotti, and brothers Domenic Mazziotti and Arnerico Mazziotti. His is survived by his son Joseph R. Mazziotti, daughter Donna M. Mazziotti, son Randy R. Mazziotti, son Dean. P. Mazziotti and his wife Jeanine Kaserrnan, and son Jay A. Mazziotti. Also surviving are Ray's grandchildren, Russell Campbell, Ryan Campbell, Paul Mazziotti, Sophie Mazziotti, Samuel Mazziotti, Anthony Mazziotti, Jack Mazziotti, Katie Babicz and Mason Kaserman. Visiting hours will be held from 4-6 pm on Friday, June 29, 2012 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave. Portland. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
