Patricia Anne LaRue November 3, 1928 May 24, 2016 Portland, ME Springfield, MA Patricia Anne ""Pat"" LaRue, 87, died peacefully on May 24, 2016, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. She was born on November 3, 1928, in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late John J. Griffin and Julia Leary. Pat traveled extensively with her family, always saying ""yes"" to an adventure. She was creative in all aspects of her life, finding great joy in painting and listening to music. She lived her life with an open heart; she was gracious and accepting of everyone she encountered. Pat always put others first and gave generously. Pat married Arthur LaRue in 1948. Together they raised four daughters and were happily married until 1984 when he passed away. Pat dedicated her early years to raising her children and later served as a dietary aid at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow, MA, where she worked for 25 years. Pat was blessed with a second chance at love when she met Bruce Heinke in 1995. They lived a life filled with music and love. She cared for him until his death in 2001. Pat resided in Springfield until she moved to Portland, ME, in 2006 to experience the joy of raising and living with her youngest grandchild. In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her brother John Griffin Jr. and sisters Noreen Moody and Judy Albano. She was survived by her loving children, Cyndy LaRue-Vadnais and Donna LaRue of Chicopee, MA, Suzanne LaRue and her partner Trevor Morris of Worcester, MA, and Mary Beth Twomey and her husband David of Portland, ME; her brothers Thomas Griffin of Landenburg, PA, William Griffin (Connie) of Enfield, CT, and James Griffin of Springfield, MA; four cherished grandchildren, Felicia, Francis, Madeline, and Julia; and two adored great-grandchildren Kasmyra and Francis; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Friends and family are invited to attend a mass in celebration of her life at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA on Saturday, May 28 at 11am.
