Margaret Mae Lee

Margaret Mae [LeClerc] Lee Margaret Mae Lee, 73, of Portland, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, January 14th, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Portland, the daughter of Evelyn and John Kordik on July 27th, 1944. She was adopted and raised by her stepfather, Joseph Leclerc, at the age of 2. She graduated from Portland High School in 1962. She married her high school sweetheart, Danny Lee, soon after on September 21st, 1963. Margaret and Danny purchased Terroni's Market in 1970 and worked together at Terroni's for over 30 years. They purchased additional properties and businesses until their retirement. Additionally, Margaret enjoyed buying and selling antiques throughout her life. First and foremost, Margaret will be remembered for her deep love for her family - particularly her husband Danny who passed away in late 2015. Immediately prior to her passing, in deciding to not pursue additional medical treatments, Margaret shared with her family that she was at peace with her decision as she didn't think she was meant to live longer without her husband Danny. She said that she fell in love with Danny at the age of 16 and after 55 years together she was comforted that she would be with him again. Margaret leaves a daughter, Catherine Saltz of Attleboro MA, and her three children to whom Margaret was very close and helped raise as if they were her own, Adrienne Saltz, Esq of Chicago Il, Jonathon Saltz, Esq of New York, NY and her "little Elizabeth" Saltz of Attleboro MA; a son, Robert J Lee and his wife Caroline of Cape Elizabeth ME, and their 3 children whom Margaret loved dearly, Patrick, Caitlin, and Megan; a son, Daniel S Lee of Las Vegas NV; and, a daughter, Kellie M Lee, Esq of Portland ME who was her primary caregiver during her illness. Margaret also leaves many cherished extended family members: Margaret's mother Evelyn Leclerc who is an inspiration at age 94; a beloved sister, Mary Wescott, with whom Margaret shared daily laughs and conversation; a beloved brother, Richard LeClerc with whom she shared her love of antiques; and a special nephew, Peter Morong, whom her husband Danny loved as a son. Margaret treasured her long tenured friendships and especially enjoyed sharing memories in her final days with friends Peter and Mary Kelly; Dominic and Marianne Reali; Donna and Carl Croce; and extended family member Bea Brockman. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home.
