Elinor S. Ferrante

Elinor S. Ferrante 1926 ~ 2015 Elinor Shields Ferrante, wife of the late Rudolph A. Ferrante, they were married on June 10th 1950. Born November 5th 1926 in Portland, Maine to William and Mildred Nealley passed peacefully at the Gosnell Hospice Center October 9th, 2015, with her son's Tom, Michael his wife Janice, Robbie and his wife Gail at her side. She is survived by the her children and wives, listed above and grandchildren Rudy, Anthony, Travis, Krista and her husband Dave Moore, Joesph Ferrante and his significant other Marina Gagne, Amanda and Alyssa Ferrante. Great grandchildren Ella, Paisley, Charlie, Luca Michael, Sophia and step grandson Jimmy Fowler, wife Shannon, children Paige and Campbell Elinor was predeceased by her brother William, sisters, Mildred, Frances, and Madelynn, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A special mention should be made to her niece Maureen, and her lifelong friend, Jeanette Breggia. There will a Graveside service on Noon Friday October 16th at Old Calvary Cemetery in South Portland, relatives and friends are invited. Go to the small brick office and there will be someone there to give you directions to the Ferrante family gravesite. But she didn't have any quit in her, Tuesday a week ago, she said to her son Robbie, she wanted to go home, to Pine Point where the staff took excellent care of her for over 5 years. A special thanks to the staff at Pine Point for the care our Mother received for all the years she was cared by the staff, and especially to Lindsey Peasley and Henry Pinette. Our mother lived a full life even after losing her sight over 45 years ago. She went everywhere with my father from Las Vegas to Cruises to winters in Florida. Mom never let her loss of sight deter her from enjoying life. She showed a lot of heart, spunk, and learned to adjust living without vision. She kept her flashy clothes and remembered where every little item was that matched. Frankly it was impressive. My mother adjusted well, communicated often with her friends and had a library for her friend's telephone numbers by memory. My mother fought long and hard, frankly our family has been amazed at her grit. She is at peace now! I have had some time to reflect, and the Dr's told us she had a weak heart. No one could've fought so hard and had a weak heart. A nurse told me Friday night as we walked my mom to the hearse she couldn't get over her wit and spunk and she was referring to Thursday morning. As her granddaughter Krista Moore said on Facebook, finally Nauni will be able to see her grandchildren great grandchildren, family and friends. Our mother stopped seeing with her eyes a long time ago, but she knew what was going on and who was around at all times. She stayed connected to the world by listening to radio talk shows, and it did get her up to date with current events. And she did possess a strong opinion. ~
