Susan M (Ferrante) Vance

December 4, 1964 ~ June 16, 2017 (age 52) 52 Years Old

Scarborough - Susan (Ferrante) Vance, 52, of Cape Elizabeth, passed on June 16, after a brief illness from complication due to cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born on December 4,
1964, the eldest daughter of Thomas and Donna (Jones) Ferrante. Susan grew up in a large Italian family on the base of Munjoy Hill. Susan known as "Sue" to many of her family and friends attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1984.

Sue was one of the first females to join the Portland Boys and Girls Club, after the organization started
allowing females to become members in 1974. During her membership, she won a special award "Girl of the Year". Sue's future husband was also a recipient for "Boy of the Year". Over the years Sue was not only a member, she became an employee. While working for the Portland Girls and Boys Club, Sue met and fell in love with a co-worker, Jim Vance. They dated for many years and were wed on October 30, 1993. Shortly after marrying, Sue and Jim bought a house in Cape Elizabeth and made it their home.

Sue's career was in the field of domestic/commercial cleaning. She worked for multiple companies throughout the Portland area. The last position held, she worked for a company that cleaned Fairpoint. Sue enjoyed her job and the folks at Fairpoint. She was a member of the ladies' auxiliary at the Portland Eagles. She was an active catholic throughout her life and a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church. She had a deep passion for animals and had always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Throughout her life, Sue surrounded herself with dogs and cats. One of her most adored companion, was a pomeranian named Cosmo. She continued to give her love and a home to a cat named Macy and 2 dogs, Sandy and Lulu.

Sue was a thoughtful, kind person with a knack for making friends easily. She would share her life experiences and would leave an impression on all those she came in contact with. Some of Sue's favorite pass times were; traveling with her husband Jim, gambling and going to the casinos, along with playing cards, scratch tickets, bingo, as well as a love for music and movies. Last fall, one of the last trips Sue took was with her husband Jim to celebrate their 23rd anniversary. She was extremely lucky. She won an all-expense paid trip in 1990 to New Orleans Louisiana Superdome to see Super Bowl XXV (49ers against Bronco) from a drawing at the Ground Round Restaurant. Sue also won a car (cash equivalent) during a bingo game at Foxwoods. Sue enjoyed taking chances.

Sue leaves behind her husband Jim, parents Thomas and Donna of Portland, mother-in-law Myrna of Portland, step-son and wife, Mike and Yvonne, grandchildren Patrick and Bradley all of Portland, brothers Santino of Portland, Peter of Scarborough, and Carmine (Priscilla) Ferrante of Virginia, sister Sharon of Old Orchard Beach, as well as multiple uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces. The family would like to extend special thanks to the team at the Gosnell House for their exceptional care and support of Sue and her family.
