Peter Cleland Kinney, of Pennsauken, New Jersey, died Sept. 28, 2017, in Portland, Maine. He was an artist, teacher and poet who adored nature and incorporated natural materials into his paintings. He was born on Oct. 16, 1943, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to Clifford “Cle” and Helen (Nordin) Kinney. He received a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a PhD in art history from New York University. For more than 30 years, he taught art at the Haverford School in Haverford, Pennsylvania, where generations of students knew him as “Doc.” He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom. He is survived by his sister, Gwen, and brother Charles; son, Aaron; grandchildren Pierce and Laurel; nephews Charles Jr., Damon and Maas and niece Katy; grandnephews Brien, Colin, Drew and Kaden and grandniece Kaia.
